This particular day's tours were of gardens. Quite different, as you'll see. First, we spent considerable time in Villa Lante. I've never been in a formal garden like this one. Despite having been damaged by Allied bombing during WWII, it has been restored so that it's structure and its age are apparent. There are amazing "rooms" within "rooms." Water features. Caves. Grand cascades and sweeping staircases. Columns. Plazas. Trees. Sculpted flora and fauna motifs in the stone, with a special affection for crustaceans (see the stories).
It was intriguing as a site for sketching, but equally for photography.
