Market days are rarely boring anywhere. This ancient site alone makes that impossible, but it's the wonderful traditions that still give it life. Verve. On this day, there were all the usual vendors of edibles, but it was the time of year to think about autumn and to also think about planting some things for next year. As well, there were more vendors of clothing. And always, displays of sausages in great variety and more wines, including those grown and produced within the village.
Like back home in Portland, bio products were everywhere with their artisan owners, but the specialty trailers like rotisserrie chicken, bouliabaise, cotton candy, bread, pastries, candies, jams were ubiquitous. So much wonderful, but often quite expensive, stuff.
I was already inspired by the boulangeries on the ring road where the castle wall once was and on Juan Jerez, our street, that I went to daily. Thinking a lot about baking becaise of their examples, the changes in goods over the weeks, the staples and the even more artisan specialty loaves.
